A Creative, Compassionate Soul and Mum of 3!
My name is Melanie Pearman but just call me Mel. I qualified as a Mindfulness Mentor in October 2019 after training with the Founder of Mindful Magic. After 5 years, I have decided to re-brand to 'Be Kind to Your Mind'. I cover the Southend and Leigh area and I have been deeply interested in mind and body connections since I was a teenager, having suffered much trauma myself and I now use this passion I have for this subject to Mentor others in loving themselves, loving life and looking after their beautiful bodies.
I have a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health (awarded October 2024). I am an Emergency Paediatric First Aider and am DBS checked.
I have a Foundation Degree in Art and Design at the University of Essex and I am a qualified Florist of over 10 years, trained by East Notley college. I use my knowledge of art and crafts to explore creativity in my sessions.
I am a highly sensitive (HSP), spiritual person with a zest for life. I have been fearless and determined is finding myself a life that I LOVE and that passion is what I try to impart in my sessions.
I use many different tools and techniques to support my recovery from a very traumatic childhood. I know what its like to be anxious and depressed and I also have recovered from the Chronic Illness, M.E.
I believe that we are intrinsically linked to nature and can learn so much from its patterns and beauty. I try to use nature as much as possible in my Workshops.
We use the same 5 Mindfulness techniques for every session but the style of them will differ depending on the group.
What Are They?
BREATH - We explore the rhyme of our breath and look at how to lengthen and deepen it to become fully oxygenated
FOCUS - You will do some kind of journalling to encourage a deeper connection to yourself
MOVEMENT - We will use some kind of mindful movement to slow our pace down and relax our bodies
CREATING - This is where we get the arts and crafts out and create something relevant to the topic we are discussing. This is where the magic happens and we become immersed in the moment.
RELAX - We lay or sit for a short time as a short story or meditation is read in quietness and calmness
All these various tools you can then take home and practice to create your own peaceful paradise!
Here's a few snipets from the wonderful feedback received after people have attended these workshops!
Highly recommend Mel’s sessions, they are wonderful in every sense. Mel makes you feel so welcome your experiences are valued and no question is ever a silly question. Lots of different themes make no two session the same. As for the beach I can’t think of a better relaxing place for mindfulness - Nicola Sweetman
Mel's class has been a life saver during the pandemic. It's one of the very few classes that's specifically created to support new mums and it's very much needed. It's an hour and a half of mums venting, relaxing, laughing, crying (that's me) and sharing experiences in a safe space with absolutely no judgement. And at the end Mel treats us to a sweet treat to eat and gift to take home. Highly recommended - Francesca Evans
My daughter really enjoys Mel’s classes and asks to do them. They have really helped her be mindful of her breath and how it can help when she feels anxious. I particularly love the way the activities focus on crafts which allow her to express herself. Such fun sessions whilst also learning some really useful techniques! - Emma George
